DIY I Love You scrapbook tips and ideas from Small Company Artworks

I love romantic, sappy gifts, which probably doesn't surprise you, given what I do. So this year, I created a romantic, sappy "I love you" personalized scrapbook for my wedding anniversary. And in the spirit of spreading romantic, sappy goodness all over the place, I'm sharing a DIY so you can make your own for a special person.

How could you use this book? It's ideal for the first wedding anniversary - it's the paper anniversary! It's also perfect for Valentine's Day, of course, but also for long-distance relationships (deployed spouses, anyone?). As a wedding present, I made a gift basket with two blank copies of the book, plus candles, chocolates, and other goodies for the newlyweds to have a post-wedding date while they filled out their books together.

Perfect for hopeless romantics (or their spouses)

In my case, I gave the book to my husband (filled out) as an anniversary gift, along with a one-of-a-kind couple sculpture I made just for him. The book would also pair really well with a tiny love token, like this one or a custom sculpture that captures your relationship.

I created my book with two sections: one that I filled out once (when I gifted the book), and I can fill in every five years or so to capture how our marriage evolves. Yours might have more blank lines for 5, 10, or more years of comments.

Then I wrapped it all up and gave it to him with a one-of-a-kind sculpture that I designed from one of our wedding photos. Sappy and romantic in the best possible way.

"i love you, now & always" book prompts

I started with a section for a verbal snapshot of our relationship, like "our song" and my favorite moment from our wedding. I figured that section would be filled out only once, when I first created the book.

DIY can be romantic. So can professional print jobs.

If you're feeling crafty, you can use my prompts to create a DIY book completely by hand. I've collected a bunch of DIY book-making ideas on Pinterest. These range from simple ideas, like decorating an existing album, to elaborate bookbinding and paper embroidery (!).

If you don't feel crafty (I'm the last person to judge you for that - you've seen my level of DIY skill), you can use Shutterfly, Blurb, or one of the other online bookmakers to insert your text (and optional photos) and have it professionally printed.

I added my favorite wedding photo to the cover of my copy, and kinda wish I'd included photos from our adventures throughout. But I didn't think of that, and I still love the results.
